Claude-Powered Job-Search Framework Tops GitHub Daily Trending: 69 Applications, 20 Interviews, One AI Engineer Offer
Sending out job applications can now be handed to Claude Code. An open-source framework breaks the job search into a dozen executable commands — from scraping postings and scoring fit to writing CVs and prepping interviews — and its author ran the experiment on himself first: 69 applications, 20 interviews, one offer.

What happened
The framework is called ai-job-search, written by independent developer Mads Lorentzen, a geophysicist by training. After losing his job in late 2025, he turned his own job-search process into a reusable open-source framework built on Claude Code (MIT license; repo created in March 2026). On October 19 it reached No. 1 on GitHub's daily trending, accumulating over 56,000 stars and nearly 18,000 forks.
The core workflow is four commands: /setup builds a profile (from a documents folder, a pasted CV, or a walkthrough interview), /scrape searches job portals and ranks matches by fit, /apply evaluates fit and drafts a tailored LaTeX CV and cover letter (reviewed and revised by a second reviewer agent), and /interview preps for interviews (building prep packs from the actual submitted materials, including mock interviews).
Ten more commands extend it: /rank batch-scores postings, /outcome tracks application results and archives them, /upskill analyzes skill gaps and builds a learning plan, /gmail-sync reads application status signals from Gmail, /notion-sync syncs to Notion, /html-report generates an offline dashboard, and more. Lorentzen says he was upfront with every employer about using the framework, and it usually 'sparked a genuine technical conversation.'
Sixty-nine tailored applications, twenty first interviews, and one signed contract later, I started as an AI engineer in June 2026.
— Mads Lorentzen, author of ai-job-search (project README)
Prerequisites: Claude Code (a Claude Pro/Max/Team subscription or Anthropic API credits), Python 3.10+, Bun, and a LaTeX distribution. The portal search skills are built for the Danish market (Jobindex, Jobnet, etc.), but the core workflow is language- and country-agnostic. The README states this is an independent open-source project with no Anthropic affiliation, and warns there is no affiliated cryptocurrency or paid sponsorship program — anything claiming otherwise is a scam.
Key facts
- Trending numbers: No. 1 on GitHub daily trending on October 19, 2026; 56,391 stars and 17,985 forks at press time; MIT license; repo created March 18, 2026.
- Author's own funnel: 69 tailored applications → 20 first-round interviews → 1 signed contract; started as an AI engineer in June 2026; began building the framework after being laid off in late 2025.
- Anti-poisoning design: /apply passes a deterministic integrity gate first: hidden text, invisible characters, instruction-shaped lines, and hidden links are filtered out; postings are treated as untrusted input and the agents follow no instructions embedded in them.
- Privacy note: Forks of the repo are public by default, and profiles (name, contact details, employment history, salary expectations) land in tracked files; the README advises personal users to use a private repo synced via upstream instead.
- No Anthropic affiliation: The README states: an independent open-source project, not endorsed, sponsored, or maintained by Anthropic; Claude Code is referenced only as the toolchain it uses.
Why it matters
It is the first open-source project to turn the entire job-search process into an executable Claude Code framework, and its public 69-applications-to-1-offer funnel offers a verifiable case of AI agents handling personal business.
