What Happened
On Sunday evening, September 27, Axios exclusively reported that Trump had invited Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei to a private White House dinner that night. TechCrunch confirmed with its own source; CNBC and AFP followed. It is the first one-on-one meeting between the two.
Two days earlier (September 25), the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the Pentagon's decision in a 2-1 vote to keep Anthropic labeled a "supply-chain risk," shutting Claude out of defense contracts. Amodei had also skipped Thursday's state dinner for Xi Jinping, attended by Altman, Musk, Cook, Huang and Zuckerberg.
Per Axios, the private dinner was personally extended by Trump. Neither the White House nor Anthropic has published an agenda.
