Apple Unveils $299 HomeView Smart Home Hub: Rebuilt Siri AI Moves Into the Living Room
Apple unveiled its first smart home hub HomeView at a New York event on Tuesday, Oct 13, priced at $299, available for preorder now and launching Nov 13. It is Apple's biggest push into the smart home market in nearly a decade — and the first time the rebuilt Siri AI enters the home as a standalone hardware carrier.

What happened
Per CNN, the HomeView pairs a 7-inch touchscreen with a speaker base, plus a wall-mountable version. Its Siri AI can surface relevant information from a user's texts and calendar, tell up to six household members apart by face and switch home-screen apps and widgets accordingly; conversations with Siri sync across devices.
Apple says camera and microphone data are processed separately from the rest of the system, inaccessible to software, apps, Apple or even the user; message and calendar content appears only when the user is recognized.
The event also brought a new HomePod Mini, an updated Apple TV 4K with Siri AI, and a line of smart home devices designed with LG and Schneider Electric.
