What happened

On October 16, Kling AI announced via an official press release that its video generation model Kling 4.0 is now available worldwide on the Kling AI website, with enterprise and developer API access to follow. The release centers on three upgrades: more stable dynamic motion and complex camera movements, native 30-second takes, and up to 15 reference assets plus 10 keyframe inputs. The company says it now serves more than 100 million users and over 50,000 enterprise customers globally, across advertising, film, television, gaming and more.

Working with Kling 4.0 on Minibots has given us a new level of creative control. We're able to design our sets and characters with our artists as we would have always done, but now bring them together through Omni Reference, and direct the action and camera movement through a description of what we're picturing, without needing to construct every shot with keyframes. It feels increasingly like directing a film rather than prompting an AI.

— John Adams and Diane Shorthouse, co-founders of Evolutionary Films

We're excited to expand that choice with Kling's newest models coming soon to Firefly, including Kling 4.0 for creating rich, cinematic stories and Kling 4.0 Flash for producing high-volume, everyday content with speed.

— Meg Donovan, Senior Director of Product Marketing for GenAI and Creators at Adobe

Key facts

  1. Native 30 seconds: Single generations run up to 30 seconds; users can upload an existing video and extend it to two minutes for multi-part storylines and emotional build-up
  2. Omni Reference: Up to 10 keyframes for shot planning and up to 15 multimodal reference assets (images, video, audio) to keep characters consistent across shots and episodes; white-model and depth-map reference videos can also guide performance, action and camera movement
  3. Quality roadmap: 10-bit HDR output at 4K and 1080p plus a 21:9 ultrawide format are coming soon; high-contrast scenes such as backlit shots, night scenes and neon-lit environments keep more highlight and shadow detail for color grading
  4. Prompt ceiling: Prompt input expands to 8,000 tokens; multilingual and accent support covers English, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Hindi and more
  5. Ecosystem: Adobe Firefly will add Kling 4.0 and Kling 4.0 Flash; Korean director Sung-Soo Kim (director of 12.12: The Day) has been making the AI short film Worm Train with the 4.0 Preview since September

Why it matters

Kling packs native 30-second takes, keyframe storyboarding and 15 multimodal reference assets into one release — and lands in Adobe Firefly — moving AI video generation from short-clip efficiency tools toward professional film production workflows.
