Anthropic has reportedly become SpaceX's biggest customer, at 34.5% of its third-quarter revenue.

What happened

SpaceX's regulatory filing disclosed that an unnamed customer contributed 34.5% of the company's third-quarter revenue, about $5 billion, through its computing business, Super Intelligence. Bloomberg, citing a person familiar with the matter, reported that the customer is Anthropic; the U.S. government had previously been SpaceX's largest source of revenue.

The contract figures come from Anthropic's prospectus published on October 26: multiple agreements with SpaceXAI total up to $120.5 billion through 2029, with monthly spending reaching about $3.1 billion from December; the agreements cover computing capacity at SpaceX's Memphis data centers running Nvidia GPUs, including the Colossus I supercomputer and the Colossus II expansion. After specified dates in January and March 2027, either side may terminate the agreements on 90 days' written notice.

SpaceX's AI division turned profitable for the first time in the third quarter; the company's third-quarter revenue was $14.58 billion, up 161% year over year. Bloomberg said Anthropic declined to comment and SpaceX did not respond to a request for comment; according to the report, Google buys about $920 million a month of computing capacity from SpaceX, making it another major customer.
