Apple Confirms Apple Intelligence for China: Testing Nov 4, Public Launch With iOS 27.3 in December
Apple announced on Oct 31 on its China website that the first Apple Intelligence features open for testing in China on Nov 4 with the latest iOS developer beta and launch publicly in December with iOS 27.3, with Alibaba's Qwen joining Siri, Writing Tools and Visual Intelligence.

What happened
The announcement appeared in Apple China's newsroom, first spotted by MacRumors and then checked by 9to5Mac; Apple sets Nov 4 as the start of testing in China and December as the public launch month, with iOS 27.3 as the release version, without giving a specific December date.
The first features cover Live Translation, Writing Tools, Visual Intelligence, Clean Up in Photos, Genmoji, natural-language photo search, Mail summaries and notification summaries; Live Translation sits inside Messages, FaceTime and Phone, Writing Tools rewrite, proofread and summarize text, and Visual Intelligence identifies objects and places through the iPhone camera.
Qwen joins in three places: Siri calls on Qwen for some requests, including questions about photos and documents; Writing Tools gains an option for Qwen to draft original content from scratch; Visual Intelligence also uses Qwen's text and image understanding; users access Qwen with a Qwen account or Sign in with Apple, and Siri asks permission before a question, document or photo is sent.

- Timeline: Apple Intelligence was first announced at WWDC in June 2024; in February 2025, Alibaba chairman Joe Tsai confirmed Apple had chosen to work with Alibaba; on Oct 15, 2026, Apple CEO Tim Cook said in an interview in Shanghai that Apple Intelligence had been approved in China and that a test version would arrive before the end of October.
- Difference from this site's Oct 15 report: the Oct 15 report, based on media reports at the time, said the China version would arrive in December without the new Siri AI in the first release; the Oct 31 announcement is Apple's official confirmation, adding the Nov 4 testing start, Qwen integration details and the device list.
Why it matters
users in China get official Apple Intelligence for the first time, Qwen becomes the local model access inside Siri and related experiences in China, and the first rollout is iPhone-only without the new Siri AI.
